The award winning Tannery Court is the first Very Sheltered Housing development in Wales. Consisting of two and three bedroom retirement apartments, construction on the development is now complete. The developers are Stepnell Ltd., a family owned construction and property company established for over 100 years. The development is managed by Retirement Security Ltd.

The new Court offers a choice of 50 spacious apartments available to buy together with extensive communal facilities and services, landscaped gardens and a 24 hour staff presence. The development lies adjacent to Abergele town centre at the southern end of Water Street near the junction with Bridge Street (A547). Tannery Court is easily accessible from the A55 and a short distance from Abergele and Pensarn Station.

In January 2010, Tannery Court won the gold award in the Best UK Housing-with-care Scheme 45-49 unit category at the inaugural EAC Housing for Older People Awards.
